Accessibility statement

Our commitment and target

Flare Digital Studio wants everyone, including people who use assistive technology, to be able to read this website and get in touch.

We build this website, flaredigitalstudio.com, to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most public agencies require of their suppliers.

Where we are

We do not yet claim full conformance. Every page passes the automated and scripted checks described below, and we know of no failures on the site today. We have not yet completed a manual test with screen readers, and we will not claim full conformance until we have and have fixed anything it finds.

How the site is tested

These checks run in a real browser on every page, in both the light and dark themes, every time the site changes. We do not publish a change that fails any of them.

• Automated testing with axe against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 Level A and AA rules.
• A keyboard-only pass at desktop and phone widths: every control can be reached with the Tab key in order, shows a visible focus indicator, and never traps focus; the skip link, phone menu and contact form work without a mouse.
• Zoom and reflow: pages work at 200% zoom, with text alone enlarged to 200%, and at 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways.
• Text spacing: nothing is cut off when line, letter, word and paragraph spacing are increased to the levels WCAG sets.
• Reduced motion: when your device asks for less motion, animation stops.
• Color contrast on every page in both themes, measured by axe against the WCAG minimums.

Automated checks find only part of what can go wrong, which is why a manual screen reader test with VoiceOver and NVDA is the next step.

Known limitations

• We have not yet tested with screen readers, so problems that only a screen reader reveals may exist.
• The scripted checks run in a Chromium-based browser (the engine behind Chrome and Edge). We have not run them in Safari or Firefox.

We will list anything else we find here, with the date, until it is fixed.

Features you can use

• A “Skip to content” link as the first thing on every page for keyboard users.
• A light and dark theme, following your device setting or chosen with the button in the header.
• The contact form works without JavaScript, and our email address is on every page as an alternative.
